About

History

The Greater Central Florida Affiliate Chapter of the National Black Child Development Institute (NBCDI) is a new addition to the vibrant community of organizations dedicated to supporting the well-being and success of Black children. Established July 2023,, our affiliate chapter was born out of a collective passion and commitment to address the unique needs and challenges faced by Black children and their families in the Central Florida region.

Our journey began with a group of visionary individuals who recognized the importance of creating a local platform to amplify the voices of Black children and advocate for their rights. Inspired by the impactful work of the National Black Child Development Institute, they set out to establish an affiliate chapter that would actively engage community members leaders, policymakers, professionals, and parents to tackle critical issues affecting our community.

Through extensive collaboration, networking, and community outreach efforts, we were able to lay the foundation for our affiliate chapter. Our dedicated team of volunteers has tirelessly planned to establish partnerships with local schools and organizations, secure funding, and build a strong support network of like-minded individuals who shared our vision.

With the official recognition of our affiliate status by the National Black Child Development Institute, we solidified our commitment to delivering strengths-based, culturally relevant, evidence-based, and trauma-informed resources tailored to the unique needs of Black children in the Central Florida area.
